Three case reports on the cometary plasma tail in the historical documents

Cometary tails visually manifest the solar wind and became an initial hint for its discovery. While is being directly monitored with satellites, time series before space age has been controversially reconstructed multiple proxies. Recently, archival reports of cometary plasma have subjected to consideration indirectly measure but brought conclusion that no had reported prior 1769 probably due their brightness. However, historical records occasionally comets two even 1769. These cases tentatively associated visual dust tails. Therefore, we examined three such (C/1577 V1, 1P/837, 1P/760), compared descriptions in calculated direction Our comparisons show calculations agree these were recorded corresponding great comets. certify capability tail observations unaided eye 1769, qualitatively imply extreme brightness, proximities Sun Earth, relative enhancements UV radiations, interaction neutral atmosphere magnetic field, while lack detailed length or kink hinders us from quantitative measuring. Further investigations will likely lead re-discovery more evidence and, hence, improve our understanding on past climate.
